On January 18, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 21,031 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 21,031 new cases, 20,768 are domestic and 263 are imported. The CECC announced 26 deaths today.

Regarding the 20,768 new domestic cases, 9,550 are male and 11,199 are female, while the gender of the other 19 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,363 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,461 in Taichung City, 2,411 in Taoyuan City, 2,386 in Taipei City, 2,361 in Kaohsiung City, 1,733 in Tainan City, 819 in Changhua County, 604 in Hsinchu County, 575 in Miaoli County, 552 in Hsinchu City, 413 in Pingtung County, 360 in Yunlin County, 333 in Keelung City, 304 in Yilan County, 273 in Nantou County, 231 in Chiayi County, 177 in Hualien County, 168 in Chiayi City, 106 in Taitung County, 84 in Kinmen County, 46 in Penghu County, and eight in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 26 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 11 men and 15 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 263 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 18, 2022, and January 17, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,313,039 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,044,073. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,266,087 cases. Of the 9,266,087 confirmed cases, 45,857 are imported; 9,220,176 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,929 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,929 deaths, 15,909 are from domestic cases and the other 20 are from imported cases.
