On July 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 28,135 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 28,135 new cases, 28,028 are domestic and 107 are imported. The CECC announced 94 deaths today.

Regarding the 28,028 new domestic cases, 12,921 are male and 15,094 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 4,122 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,576 in Taichung City, 3,119 in Kaohsiung City, 2,822 in Taoyuan City, 2,612 in Taipei City, 2,266 in Tainan City, 1,565 in Changhua County, 1,165 in Pingtung County, 817 in Yunlin County, 722 in Miaoli County, 713 in Hsinchu County, 701 in Yilan County, 637 in Chiayi County, 549 in Nantou County, 542 in Hualien County, 531 in Hsinchu City, 409 in Taitung County, 391 in Keelung City, 337 in Chiayi City, 210 in Penghu County, 194 in Kinmen County, and 28 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 94 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 53 men and 41 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 107 imported cases, 66 are male while the other 41 are women.

The CECC reported that a total of 13,867,683 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,809,219. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,054,189 cases. Of the 4,054,189 confirmed cases, 15,548 are imported; 4,038,587 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 7,553 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 7,553 deaths, 7,538 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
