On December 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 4 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those 4 new cases came to Taiwan from the Philippines (Case #677), Indonesia (Case #678),  the United Kingdom (Case #679), and Belarus (Case #680).

Case #677 is an over 20-year-old male from the Philippines. He visited Taiwan for work on November 16. He was tested for COVID-19 on November 29 before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 1.

Case #678 is an over 30-year-old female from Indonesia. The Indonesian woman came to Taiwan to work on November 28. She voluntarily notified airport quarantine officers that she began to experience dizziness on November 21. After an assessment performed by quarantine officers, her specimen was collected for COVID-19 testing upon arrival. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 1.

Case #679 is a Taiwanese man in his 30s. The man worked in the United Kingdom for an extended period of time. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 in the United Kingdom. After completing the self-isolation period, his symptoms improved on November 7. The man returned to Taiwan on November 28. He showed no symptoms and voluntarily notified airport quarantine officers of his history of COVID-19 infection when entering Taiwan. His specimen was collected upon arrival. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 1.

Case #680 is an over 40-year-old male from Belarus who holds an R.O.C. Resident Certificate. The Belarusian man traveled to Taiwan for work on November 13. He hasn't developed any suspected COVID-19 symptoms since arrival. After completing the quarantine period, the man took a self-paid COVID-19 test at the hospital arranged by the company he worked for on November 30. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 1.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 110,685 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 108,969. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 679 cases. Of the 679 confirmed cases, 587 are imported; 55 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 568 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 104 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
