On July 11, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 88 new confirmed cases of the Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5. Of the 88 cases, two are domestic and the other 86 are imported. There have been a cumulative total of 326 imported cases of the Omicron subvariants; of the 326 imported cases, 48 are cases of BA.4, and 278 are cases of BA.5. Furthermore, there have been a cumulative total of four confirmed domestic cases of Omicron subvariants, and they all are BA.5 cases.

The CECC pointed out that these four domestic cases of the BA.5 subvariant were likely to be infected when picking up their inbound family members or friends from the airport. Members of the public are reminded to take the precautionary measures listed below when giving a ride to friends or family members arriving in the country from abroad to protect themselves and others:
A. Individuals giving inbound travelers a ride should have received at least two COVID-19 vaccine doses (those having received three doses are preferable) and wear gloves and masks.
B. Before inbound travelers get in a vehicle, their hands, the bottom of their shoes, and their luggage should be disinfected.
C. No eating or drinking in the vehicle; the windows should be kept open throughout the ride to maintain good ventilation.
D. Everyone in the vehicle should wear a mask all the time during the ride and avoid talking to and touching others as well as other actions involving contact with each other.
F. After the ride, the interior and exterior of the vehicle, especially high-touch surfaces such as the door handles, seats, seat belt buckles, should be cleaned and disinfected.
