CECC confirms 6 more imported COVID-19 cases


On December 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced six new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the six new imported cases, they are five men and one woman, aged between 10 to 29 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (two cases), Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. They arrived between November 26 and December 10.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,646,270 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,628,598. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,737 cases. Of the 16,737 confirmed cases, 2,092 are imported; 14,591 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 848 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 848 deaths, 836 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
