CECC confirms 3 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from Indonesia


On December 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those three new cases all arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia.

Case #735 is an over 20-year-old male from Indonesia. The man came to Taiwan to work as a ship crewmember on November 24. He hasn't developed any symptoms since arrival. After completing the quarantine period on December 9, he continued to observe self-health management. The man took a self-paid COVID-19 test on December 10. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 13, and the Ct value was 30.

Case #736 is an over 20-year-old female migrant worker from Indonesia. The Indonesian woman traveled to Taiwan to work on November 28. When entering Taiwan, the woman showed no symptoms. She was tested for COVID-19 on December 4, a week after entry, and she tested negative. Before completing the quarantine period, she was tested again on December 11. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 13, and the Ct value was 27.

Case #737 is an over 30-year-old female migrant worker from Indonesia. The female migrant worker came to Taiwan to work on November 25. She hasn't developed any symptoms since arrival. She was given two COVID-19 tests at the group quarantine facility on November 28 and December 8, and the two test results came back negative. After completing the quarantine period on December 10, her employment agency arranged for her to take a self-paid test. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 13, and the Ct value was 36.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 115,167 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 113,304. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 736 cases. Of the 736 confirmed cases, 644 are imported; 55 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 606 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 123 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
