CECC confirms 19,891 more COVID-19 cases, including 19,798 domestic cases and 93 imported cases


On December 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 19,891 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 19,891 new cases, 19,798 are domestic and 93 are imported. The CECC announced 41 deaths today.

Regarding the 19,798 new domestic cases, 8,869 are male and 10,912 are female, while the gender of the other 17 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,953 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,585 in Taichung City, 2,181 in Taoyuan City, 2,116 in Kaohsiung City, 2,088 in Taipei City, 1,602 in Tainan City, 953 in Changhua County, 710 in Hsinchu County, 630 in Hsinchu City, 470 in Miaoli County, 399 in Pingtung County, 374 in Yunlin County, 287 in Chiayi County, 286 in Nantou County, 273 in Yilan County, 239 in Keelung City, 186 in Chiayi City, 183 in Hualien County, 113 in Kinmen County, 106 in Taitung County, 59 in Penghu County, and five in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 41 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 23 men and 18 women ranging in age from 10 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 93 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 21 and December 21, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,533,337 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,887,833. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,644,555 cases. Of the 8,644,555 confirmed cases, 39,143 are imported; 8,605,358 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,999 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,999 deaths, 14,982 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
