CECC confirms 17,168 more COVID-19 cases, including 17,118 domestic cases and 50 imported cases


On December 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 17,168 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 17,168 new cases, 17,118 are domestic and 50 are imported. The CECC announced 12 deaths today.

Regarding the 17,118 new domestic cases, 7,838 are male and 9,265 are female, while the gender of the other 15 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,750 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,235 in Taichung City, 2,107 in Kaohsiung City, 1,705 in Taoyuan City, 1,660 in Taipei City, 1,542 in Tainan City, 1,026 in Changhua County, 531 in Pingtung County, 511 in Hsinchu County, 489 in Hsinchu City, 468 in Miaoli County, 408 in Yunlin County, 294 in Nantou County, 293 in Chiayi County, 274 in Yilan County, 233 in Hualien County, 187 in Chiayi City, 144 in Keelung City, 110 in Kinmen County, 99 in Taitung County, 49 in Penghu County, and three in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 12 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were eight men and four women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 50 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 12 and December 11, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,346,804 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,847,680. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,498,195 cases. Of the 8,498,195 confirmed cases, 38,354 are imported; 8,459,787 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,722 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,722 deaths, 14,705 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
