On May 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 283 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 283 new cases, 281 are indigenous and the other two are imported. Furthermore, the CECC reported 261 retroactively added cases; a total of 544 cases were recorded. The CECC also announced six deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 281 indigenous cases, 144 are men and the other 137 are women ranging in ages from under 5 to 99 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between May 7 and May 24. Regarding those indigenous cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 154, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 49. Taoyuan City reported 16 cases; Tainan City, Keelung City and Changhua County reported 10 each; Taichung City reported 9; Pingtung County and Hsinchu City reported 4 each; Kaohsiung City and Yilan County reported 3 each; Taitung County, Nantou County and Miaoli County reported 2 each; Hsinchu County, Yulin County and Hualien County reported 1 each. 

Of the 261 retroactively added cases, 162 are men and the other 99 are women ranging in ages from under 10 to 99 years old. They suffered the onset of symptoms between May 2 and May 22. Regarding the 261 cases, Taipei City reported most cases, at 155, and New Taipei City had the second highest number, at 89. Taoyuan City and Yilan County reported 5 cases each; Keelung City and Changhua County reported 3 each, and Taichung City reported 1.

Regarding the six deaths, they are one woman and five men between 60 and 99 years old.

Regarding the two imported cases (Case #5085 and Case #5470), they both traveled to Taiwan from the Philippines. Case #5085 is a man in his 40s. He arrived in Taiwan on May 2. He was tested for COVID-19 on May 17, before the end of the quarantine period, and the result came back negative. After he completed the self-health management period on May 24, he took a self-paid test arranged by the company he worked for. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 25 (the CT value was 32). Case #5470 is a man in his 20s. He arrived in Taiwan on May 11, and was tested for COVID-19 on May 24 before the end of quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 25.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 388,453 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 340,438. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,456 cases. Of the 5,456 confirmed cases, 1,118 are imported; 4,285 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and 14 cases (Case #530, Case #1589, Case #1676, Case #1591, Case #1886, Case #2067, Case #2068, Case #2528, Case #2530, Case #3975, Case #3989, Case #3990, Case #3991 and Case #4726) have been removed (those case numbers are not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 35 deaths.
