On August 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that Taiwan had received a notification from the Philippines authorities through International Health Regulations (IHR) National Focal Point on August 25 that an asymptomatic female had tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after she had returned to the Philippines from Taiwan.
The CECC reported that the case is a Filipino woman in her 30s. The Filipina visited Taiwan on February 27 and returned to the Philippines on August 19. She was tested for COVID-19 upon arrival and tested positive. The CECC and the local health authority have launched an investigation into the Filipino woman and conducted contact tracing to identify individuals who came into contact with her in Taiwan.
