CECC confirms 14,234 more COVID-19 cases, including 14,162 domestic cases and 72 imported cases


On December 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 14,234 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 14,234 new cases, 14,162 are domestic and 72 are imported. The CECC announced 14 deaths today.

Regarding the 14,162 new domestic cases, 6,628 are male and 7,525 are female, while the gender of the other nine cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,812 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,827 in Taichung City, 1,691 in Taoyuan City, 1,451 in Kaohsiung City, 1,446 in Taipei City, 1,144 in Tainan City, 652 in Changhua County, 641 in Hsinchu County, 426 in Hsinchu City, 365 in Miaoli County, 273 in Pingtung County, 271 in Yunlin County, 223 in Nantou County, 192 in Yilan County, 174 in Keelung City, 161 in Chiayi County, 143 in Hualien County, 89 in Chiayi City, 88 in Kinmen County, 54 in Taitung County, 46 in Penghu County, and one in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 14 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 11 men and three women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 72 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 29 and December 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,618,658 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,904,089. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,713,634 cases. Of the 8,713,634 confirmed cases, 39,514 are imported; 8,674,066 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,113 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,113 deaths, 15,096 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
