On February 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 56 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 56 new cases, two are domestic and 54 are imported (31 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are one man and one woman, aged between under 10 and 69 years.

Regarding the 54 new imported cases, they are 32 men and 22 women, aged between under five and 89 years. Of the cases, seven arrived from the US, four each from the Philippines and Vietnam, two each from Singapore and Japan, and one each from Switzerland, Korea, Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Canada; the areas the remaining 26 cases arrived from are being investigated.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,216,454 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,196,027. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 20,156 cases. Of the 20,156 confirmed cases, 4,708 are imported; 15,394 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 852 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 852 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
