On September 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced six new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the six new cases, two are domestic and the other four are imported. The CECC reported no deaths today.

Regarding the two new domestic cases, Case #16128 is a Taiwanese male in his 40s, and Case #16129 is a Taiwanese female in her 30s. They are family members who live together.

Regarding the four new imported cases, they are three men and one woman, aged between 20 to 39 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from Serbia, the US, Burkina Faso, and Japan. They arrived between September 2 and September 3.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,801,846 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,784,487. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,019 cases. Of the 16,019 confirmed cases, 1,433 are imported; 14,533 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 837 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 837 deaths, 827 are from domestic cases and the other 10 are from imported cases.
