CECC confirms 16,080 more COVID-19 cases, including 16,012 domestic cases and 68 imported cases


On December 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16,080 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 16,080 new cases, 16,012 are domestic and 68 are imported. The CECC announced 37 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,012 new domestic cases, 7,085 are male and 8,903 are female, while the gender of the other 24 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,935 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,133 in Taichung City, 1,918 in Kaohsiung City, 1,789 in Taoyuan City, 1,586 in Taipei City, 1,264 in Tainan City, 755 in Changhua County, 520 in Hsinchu County, 501 in Hsinchu City, 439 in Miaoli County, 381 in Pingtung County, 361 in Yunlin County, 280 in Chiayi County, 235 in Nantou County, 213 in Yilan County, 184 in Keelung City, 171 in Chiayi City, 155 in Hualien County, 85 in Taitung County, 66 in Kinmen County, 41 in Penghu County, and zero in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 37 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 19 men and 18 women ranging in age from 20 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 68 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 14 and December 14, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,389,761 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,856,941. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,531,911 cases. Of the 8,531,911 confirmed cases, 38,525 are imported; 8,493,332 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,796 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,796 deaths, 13,779 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
