On October 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced five new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. All those cases are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the five new imported cases, they are one man and four women, aged between 20 to 49 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (three cases), South Africa, and another country (under investigation). They arrived between September 14 and September 26, 2021.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,507,972 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,490,728. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,267 cases. Of the 16,267 confirmed cases, 1,632 are imported; 14,581 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 844 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 844 deaths, 832 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
