On January 31, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 55 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 55 new cases, 17 are domestic and 38 are imported (20 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are eight men and nine women, aged between under ten and 89 years.

Regarding the 38 new imported cases, they are 26 men and 12 women, aged between under 10 and 79 years. 28 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (19 cases), China (two cases), Ecuador, Japan, Panama, Belgium, Korea, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia; while the areas where the other ten arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between January 14 and January 30, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,673,543 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,654,537. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,790 cases. Of the 18,790 confirmed cases, 3,671 are imported; 15,065 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 127 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
