On October 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 44,565 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 44,565 new cases, 44,457 are domestic and 108 are imported. The CECC announced 62 deaths today.

Regarding the 44,457 new domestic cases, 20,487 are male and 23,951 are female, while the gender of the other 19 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 8,730 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,379 in Taichung City, 4,888 in Taoyuan City, 4,580 in Taipei City, 4,487 in Kaohsiung City, 3,238 in Tainan City, 2,363 in Changhua County, 1,229 in Pingtung County, 1,193 in Hsinchu County, 1,183 in Yilan County, 1,112 in Yunlin County, 1,076 in Miaoli County, 1,048 in Hsinchu City, 773 in Chiayi County, 751 in Keelung City, 663 in Nantou County, 617 in Hualien County, 456 in Chiayi City, 335 in Taitung County, 203 in Kinmen County, 141 in Penghu County, and 12 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 62 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 27 men and 35 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 108 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 8 and October 8, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 18,363,146 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,488,875. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,871,538 cases. Of the 6,871,538 confirmed cases, 35,418 are imported; 6,836,066 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 11,527 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 11,527 deaths, 11,511 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
