On December 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 14,359 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 14,359 new cases, 14,295 are domestic and 64 are imported. The CECC announced 32 deaths today.

Regarding the 14,295 new domestic cases, 6,491 are male and 7,791 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,322 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,922 in Taichung City, 1,830 in Kaohsiung City, 1,633 in Taoyuan City, 1,263 in Taipei City, 1,131 in Tainan City, 771 in Changhua County, 472 in Hsinchu County, 434 in Pingtung County, 418 in Hsinchu City, 410 in Miaoli County, 294 in Yunlin County, 237 in Nantou County, 212 in Yilan County, 207 in Hualien County, 201 in Chiayi County, 189 in Keelung City, 144 in Chiayi City, 99 in Taitung County, 61 in Kinmen County, 43 in Penghu County, and two in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 32 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 17 men and 15 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 64 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 10 and December 7, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,273,399 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,830,650. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,441,828 cases. Of the 8,441,828 confirmed cases, 38,158 are imported; 8,403,616 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,617 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,617 deaths, 14,600 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
