CECC confirms 3 more imported cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the Philippines and the Netherlands


On May 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those three new cases arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines (Case #1180 and Case #1181) and the Netherlands (Case #1182).

Case #1180 is an over 30-year-old female migrant worker from the Philippines. The Filipina traveled to Taiwan for work on April 23. She experienced a runny nose on May 5. She was tested for COVID-19 on May 6, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 8.

Case #1181 is an over 30-year-old male sailor from the Philippines. The sailor traveled to Taiwan for work on April 21. After completing the quarantine period on May 6, he took a self-paid test arranged by the company he worked for the same day; infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 8.

Case #1182 is an Indonesian man in his 20s. He took a flight to Taiwan from the Netherlands on April 21, and entered Taiwan for work on April 22. He visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on May 7. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 8.
