Taiwan's digital COVID-19 certificate to be available for domestic use starting 8 a.m. on Jan. 21

On January 20, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that it would make Taiwan's Digital COVID-19 Certificate available for use in the country starting 8 a.m. on January 21, 2022. This certificate has three major features: being available for download for people vaccinated in the country, being compliant with the verification program of the EU's certificate system used in 60 countries and territories, and being a verification carrier of an app with a name-based registration system.

The CECC pointed out that the digital certificate was only available for download for people with a valid passport, but the identification method has been replaced by using household registration number. The Digital COVID-19 Certificate can be applied online via computer or cell phone at https://dvc.mohw.gov.tw.

The verification program of the Digital COVID-19 Certificate is available as a webpage (https://dvc.mohw.gov.tw/verifier-web). The link is also available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The webpage doesn't retain personal data of individuals being verified.

To update the functions, the digital certificate website will be temporarily unavailable for access from 5 p.m. on January 20 to 8 a.m. on January 21 to update the system. People who urgently need the certificate for international travel are urged to download it in advance.
