CECC confirms 20,448 more COVID-19 cases, including 20,160 domestic cases and 288 imported cases


On August 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 20,448 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 20,448 new cases, 20,160 are domestic and 288 are imported. The CECC announced 22 deaths today.

Regarding the 20,160 new domestic cases, 9,313 are male and 10,836 are female, while the gender of the other 11 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,123 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,471 in Taoyuan City, 2,470 in Taipei City, 2,249 in Taichung City, 1,504 in Kaohsiung City, 1,220 in Tainan City, 845 in Changhua County, 798 in Hsinchu County, 604 in Hsinchu City, 512 in Miaoli County, 488 in Pingtung County, 429 in Hualien County, 596 in Yilan County, 394 in Yunlin County, 385 in Keelung City, 317 in Nantou County, 305 in Chiayi County, 205 in Chiayi City, 162 in Taitung County, 143 in Penghu County, 90 in Kinmen County, and 32 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 22 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 11 men and 11 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 288 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 31 and August 28, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 16,073,876 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,824,449. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,242,009 cases. Of the 5,242,009 confirmed cases, 27,298 are imported; 5,214,657 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,866 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,866 deaths, 9,850 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
