CECC confirms 15,792 more COVID-19 cases, including 15,596 domestic cases and 196 imported cases


On August 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 15,792 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 15,792 new cases, 15,596 are domestic and 196 are imported. The CECC announced 22 deaths today.

Regarding the 15,596 new domestic cases, 7,310 are male and 8,284 are female, while the gender of the other two cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,084 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,973 in Taoyuan City, 1,897 in Taichung City, 1,789 in Taipei City, 1,286 in Kaohsiung City, 971 in Tainan City, 686 in Changhua County, 521 in Miaoli County, 494 in Hsinchu County, 362 in Hsinchu City, 361 in Yunlin County, 352 in Yilan County, 348 in Pingtung County, 274 in Hualien County, 267 in Nantou County, 227 in Chiayi County, 227 in Keelung City, 126 in Kinmen County, 126 in Chiayi City, 121 in Taitung County, 97 in Penghu County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 22 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 17 men and five women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 196 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 15 and August 14, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,446,244 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,534,239. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,904,622 cases. Of the 4,904,622 confirmed cases, 23,510 are imported; 4,881,058 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,457 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,457 deaths, 9,442 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
