CECC confirms 24,103 more COVID-19 cases, including 23,931 domestic cases and 172 imported cases


On September 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 24,103 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 24,103 new cases, 23,931 are domestic and 172 are imported. The CECC announced 31 deaths today.

Regarding the 23,931 new domestic cases, 11,118 are male and 12,807 are female, while the gender of the other six cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,329 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,016 in Taipei City, 2,884 in Taoyuan City, 2,528 in Taichung City, 1,862 in Kaohsiung City, 1,400 in Tainan City, 994 in Changhua County, 856 in Hsinchu County, 619 in Hsinchu City, 611 in Pingtung County, 610 in Miaoli County, 494 in Yunlin County, 493 in Yilan County, 460 in Hualien County, 433 in Keelung City, 327 in Nantou County, 323 in Chiayi County, 218 in Chiayi City, 204 in Taitung County, 124 in Penghu County, 122 in Kinmen County, and 24 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 31 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 17 men and 14 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 172 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between August 5 and September 4, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 16,436,203 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,960,987. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,467,059 cases. Of the 5,467,059 confirmed cases, 29,076 are imported; 5,437,929 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 10,094 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 10,094 deaths, 10,078 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
