Abstract:

The first confirmed scrub typhus case was occurred in Kinmen County in the 20th week, and revealed the beginning of scrub typhus epidemic in 2014. Since the trend of scrub typhus epidemic was similar to the recent summit of epidemic in 2011, we analyzed historical scrub typhus epidemic trends, patterns of mites’ activities, characteristics of scrub typhus transmission, farming harvest and climate, and contemporarily evaluate control measures of three perspectives including strengthened environmental control measures, personal protection education and medical treatment for more effectively control. We propose integration of resources, solid implementation of environmental sanitation and mice control to control scrub typhus epidemic in a more effective and timely manner.
