Abstract:

In recent years, the main strategy of dengue prevention and control was to eliminate mosquito breeding sources, with chemical spray as a supplement. However, Tainan City suffered from the most severe dengue epidemic over the past decade in 2015. The original prevention and control strategy was unable to cope with the sharply rising cases.
In order to tackle such situation, the Southern Regional Center of Centers for Disease Control established a response team, divided into monitoring, surveillance, and logistics, and cooperated with the Tainan City Government to adjust the emergency prevention strategy and method in the midst of the epidemic. The epidemic was gradually under control through continuously relocating epidemic prevention resources, carrying out block-based control and prioritizing the severity of affected areas for the prevention and control.
