Abstract：

In December 1984, the Bureau of Disease Control received reports of an increase in the usual number of measles cases seen at several Taipei City hospitals. A record review from three hospitals (Chang Gung, National Taiwan University, and MacKay Memorial) showed an increase in the number of measles cases beginning in the summer of 1984 (Figure 1). Few cases were diagnosed during 1983. In National Taiwan University Hospital, the immunization status of measles cases was known; only 7 out of 37 (19%) had received measles vaccine. These data indicated that 1985 could be an epidemic year for measles in Taipei City, especially if immunization rates were low.
