In view of the fact that frequent interactions among the students would lead to rapid spread of infectious diseases, Taiwan CDC established this system in 2001. Teachers and nurses participating in this project were asked to file weekly reports on the number of sick students and the discovery of influenza-like illness, hand-and-foot-and-mouth disease, herpangina, diarrhea, fever, and other infectious diseases.
