CECC confirms 4 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia and the US

On December 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 4 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Among those 4 new cases (Case #688-691), one traveled to Taiwan from Indonesia, and the other three arrived from the United States.

Case #688 is an over 30-year-old female migrant worker from Indonesia. The female migrant worker traveled to Taiwan for work on November 13. She hasn't developed any symptoms since arrival. After completing the quarantine period, the Indonesian woman visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test at the request of her employer. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 4, and the Ct value was 32.

Case #689 is a French man in his 40s. The French man was bitten by a poisonous spider in the United States. He arrived in Taiwan on November 30 and stayed at a quarantine hotel to undergo quarantine after entry. Because the discomfort in his bite wound didn't improve, the health authority then arranged his medical attention. The French man was admitted to the hospital and was tested for COVID-19 on December 2. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 4.

Case #690 is a Taiwanese man in his 20s. The Taiwanese man returned to Taiwan on November 30. The man began to develop chills on December 1, and the health authority then arranged his medical attention and COVID-19 testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 4.

Case #691 is a Taiwanese man in his 90s. The man traveled to the United States in the first half of November and returned to Taiwan on November 22. He developed fatigue, dizziness, and other symptoms on December 2. His specimen was collected, and the case was reported to the health authority. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 4.
