CECC confirms 6 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the Philippines and Indonesia


On December 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced six new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Among those six new cases, three arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines and three traveled from Indonesia.

Case #772 and Case #773 both are Filipino migrant workers, and they are an over 30-year-old female and an over 20-year-old male, respectively. Both migrant workers came to Taiwan to work from the Philippines on December 8. They have not experienced any symptoms since arrival. They were tested for COVID-19 on December 21 before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 23.

Case #774 is an over 30-year-old male fishing boat worker from Indonesia. The Indonesian fisherman traveled to Taiwan to work on December 3. He hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. After completing the quarantine period, his employment agency arranged for him to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on December 21. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 23.

Case #775 is an over 20-year-old male fishing boat worker from Indonesia. He traveled to Taiwan to work on December 17. After entry, the Indonesian worker stayed at a group quarantine facility to undergo quarantine. During the quarantine period, he experienced a cough and runny nose on December 21. The quarantine personnel at the quarantine facility then arranged for him to be tested. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 23.

Case #776 is an over 30-year-old female worker from Indonesia. She traveled to Taiwan from Indonesia on November 27. The Indonesian woman were tested twice on November 27 and December 10 before completing the quarantine period, and both test results came back negative. During the self-health management period, her employer arranged for her to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on December 21. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 23.

Case #777 is an over 20-year-old female migrant worker from the Philippines. The Philippine woman traveled to Taiwan from her home country for work on December 9. She hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. She was tested for COVID-19 on December 22 before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 23.
