CECC confirms 8,923 more COVID-19 cases, including 8,822 domestic cases and 101 imported cases


On April 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 8,923 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 8,923 new cases, 8,822 are domestic and 101 are imported (84 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced two deaths today.

Regarding the 8,822 new domestic cases, 4,268 are male and 4,551 are female while the gender of the other three is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between April 1 and April 26, while 4,138 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 3,241 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,892 in Taipei City, 1,452 in Taoyuan City, 476 in Keelung City, 356 in Taichung City, 268 in Kaohsiung City, 237 in Hualien County, 179 in Tainan City, 135 in Yilan County, 110 in Hsinchu County, 98 in Changhua County, 82 in Hsinchu City, 63 in Pingtung County, 62 in Yunlin County, 53 in Miaoli County, 35 in Nantou County, 24 in Chiayi County, 23 in Taitung County, 12 each in Chiayi City and Penghu County, 10 in Kinmen County and two in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the two deaths (Case #30381 and 35335) announced today, the cases were an over 70-year-old Taiwanese male with cancer and an over 50-year-old Taiwanese men with chronic disease.

Regarding the 101 new imported cases, they are 58 men and 43 women ranging in age from 10 to 69 years. Of the cases, 12 arrived from Vietnam, two each from Spain and Indonesia, and one each from Australia, India and the Philippines; the areas the remaining 82 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 31 and April 26, 2022.


The CECC reported that a total of 8,244,479 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 8,166,125. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 76,938 cases. Of the 76,938 confirmed cases, 10,618 are imported; 62,266 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 858 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 858 deaths, 843 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
