CECC confirms 1,351 more COVID-19 cases, including 1,199 domestic cases and 152 imported cases

On April 16, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 1,351 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 1,351 new cases, 1,199 are domestic and 152 are imported (143 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.
Regarding the 1,199 new domestic cases, 575 are male and 623 are female while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 31 and April 16, while 672 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 434 were reported in New Taipei City, 206 in Taipei City, 159 in Taoyuan City, 92 in Keelung City, 60 in Kaohsiung City, 55 in Hualien County, 40 in Taichung City, 39 in Yilan County, 29 in Tainan City, 16 in Changhua County, 15 in Hsinchu County, 12 each in Miaoli County and Pingtung County, 10 in Hsinchu City, seven in Taitung County, five each in Yunlin County and Nantou County, two in Chiayi City, and one in Chiayi County.
Regarding the 152 new imported cases, they are 66 men and 86 women ranging in age from under five to 79 years. Of the cases, four arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines, three in Korea, two each in Indonesia and Thailand, and one each in Singapore and the US; the areas the remaining 139 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between February 24 and April 15, 2022.
The CECC reported that a total of 7,646,789 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,613,265. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 33,205 cases. Of the 33,205 confirmed cases, 9,600 are imported; 23,551 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 182 cases (3 newly added; three domestic cases were removed due to duplicate records or negative results after epidemiological investigations) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 854 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 854 deaths, 840 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
