CECC confirms 1 more imported COVID-19 case; male case returns to Taiwan from Philippines

On August 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new case is an over 50-year-old male (Case #481). The male case took a business trip to the Philippines on June 26 and returned to Taiwan on August 10 by himself.

Case #481 developed diarrhea, chills, and other symptoms at the end of July. The case voluntarily reported his previous symptoms to airport quarantine officers when entering Taiwan. After he had his specimen collected at the airport, the case was taken to a group quarantine facility. He still experienced diarrhea during the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on August 12.
