Elderly people and high-risk groups urged to get their first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible

On January 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that in consideration of the ongoing threat posed by the Omicron variant and increased risk of community transmission associated with frequent gatherings and reunions during the Lunar New Year holiday, elderly people and high-risk groups who have not received their first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine are urged to get their first dose or second shot as soon as possible to build protection.

The CECC pointed out that it has extended the effective period of the measure that allows local governments to offer health educational materials worth NT$200 or below to individuals aged 18 or older who have not received their first dose or second dose in order to encourage them to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible. The effective period has been extended to February 28, 2022. Such individuals are urged to be vaccinated.
