CECC confirms 16 more imported COVID-19 cases

On December 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 16 new imported cases, they are 12 men and four women, aged between 10 to 69 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (eight cases), Vietnam, Hungary, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Laos, the UK, Germany, and Indonesia. They arrived between December 12 and December 26.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,884,004 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,864,380. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,931 cases. Of the 16,931 confirmed cases, 2,277 are imported; 14,600 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
