CECC confirms 17,253 more COVID-19 cases, including 16,911 domestic cases and 342 imported cases

On February 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 17,253 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 17,253 new cases, 16,911 are domestic and 342 are imported. The CECC announced 44 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,911 new domestic cases, 7,869 are male and 9,034 are female, while the gender of the other eight cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,024 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,084 in Kaohsiung City, 1,949 in Taichung City, 1,734 in Taoyuan City, 1,684 in Tainan City, 1,478 in Taipei City, 818 in Changhua County, 514 in Pingtung County, 476 in Yunlin County, 466 in Hsinchu County, 393 in Miaoli County, 389 in Yilan County, 374 in Hsinchu City, 294 in Chiayi County, 275 in Nantou County, 268 in Hualien County, 234 in Keelung City, 203 in Chiayi City, 155 in Taitung County, 56 in Penghu County, 35 in Kinmen County, and eight in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 44 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 25 men and 19 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 342 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 21 and February 19.

The CECC data showed that since 2020, there have been a cumulative total of 9,954,456 confirmed cases and a cumulative total of 17,608 COVID-19 deaths in Taiwan.
