On May 10, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed indigenous cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and one new case under investigation. Of the four new cases confirmed today, one (Case #1186) is a staff member of the airport quarantine hotel; one (Case #1187) is an airline pilot (whose source of infection is being investigated); and two (Case #1199 and Case #1200) are family members of and lives with Case #1105.

Case #1186 is a Taiwanese male in his 40s who is a shuttle bus driver for the airport quarantine hotel. He transported Case #1128 and Case #1129 between April 23 and April 28. He experienced a fever, a cough and diarrhea on May 7. The quarantine facility arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo testing on May 8. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 10.

Case #1187 is a Taiwanese male in his 40s who is a pilot for an airline company. The pilot was on duty in the United States from April 20 to April 22. He was tested on April 25, and he tested negative after given an RT-PCR test and an antibody test. He rode in the same car as Case #1183 to the airline company on May 2. He developed a fever on May 6. The health authority then arranged for him to be tested; infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 10. The case's source of infection has yet to be determined.

The CECC pointed out that Case #1187 had visited some public venues during the infectious period. The public venues Case #1187 visited are listed below. Members of the public who have visited those locations during the time periods mentioned are reminded to practice self-health monitoring for 14 days. If suspected symptoms develop, members of the public must put on a mask and voluntarily inform the physician of any history of contact and activity.

Case #1199 and Case #1200 are a Taiwanese female in her 40s and a Taiwanese female in her teens, respectively. They are family members of and lives with Case #1105. They were tested on May 9 before completing the home isolation period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on May 10.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 215,806 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 213,504. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1199 cases. Of the 1199 confirmed cases, 1048 are imported; 99 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 13 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 12 deaths, and 1089 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 98 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
