1.5 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine donated by the U.S. government arrive in Taiwan on afternoon of November 1

On November 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) stated that after a donation of 2.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine on June 20, 2021, the U.S. government had announced on October 31 that it would donate a second batch of the Moderna vaccine, containing 1.5 million doses, to Taiwan; the second batch of vaccines arrived on a charter flight operated by China Airlines at Taoyuan International Airport on the afternoon of November 1. The vaccine doses will be shipped to designated cold storage and logistics centers for the subsequent testing and lot release procedures after customs clearance. This batch of vaccine doses will be distributed and offered to individuals to be vaccinated under the national COVID-19 vaccination program according to the CECC's plan.

The CECC once again expresses its sincere gratitude to the government and people of the US for again donating a batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses to Taiwan, which will help Taiwan boost its second-dose vaccination coverage, during this difficult time in the pandemic and amid the global vaccine supply shortages.
