CECC confirms 130 more COVID-19 cases, including 82 domestic cases and 48 imported cases


On January 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 130 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 130 new cases, 82 are domestic and 48 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 12 men and 70 women, aged between under 10 and 79 years.

Regarding the 48 new imported cases, they are 29 men and 19 women, aged between under five and 79. 37 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (13 cases), Canada (four cases), Singapore (four cases), the Philippines (three cases), India (two cases), Turkey (two cases), Hong Kong (two cases), Austria, Nigeria, Italy, Cambodia, Germany, Vietnam and Brazil; the areas where the remaining 11 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between December 31, 2021, and January 21, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,418,957 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,400,086. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,238 cases. Of the 18,238 confirmed cases, 3,331 are imported; 14,853 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 117 cases (one newly added; removed after testing negative the second time) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
