On August 11, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 16 new cases, 12 are domestic and the other four are imported. The CECC reported two deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 12 domestic cases (of whom, five tested positive while they were in home isolation or completed their isolation period), 9 are men and the other three are women, aged between 10 to 79 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between August 2 and August 10, 2021. Of those domestic cases, six cases were reported in New Taipei City, four in Taipei City, and two in Keelung City.

Regarding the two deaths announced today, they were an over 70-year old male and an over 90-year old male. Both had chronic diseases and no history of contact with other confirmed cases.

Regarding the four new imported cases, they all are men aged between 20 to 69 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the Netherlands (Case #15912), Indonesia (Case #15913) and the UK (Cases #15921 and #15922), and arrived between July 28 and August 9.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,268,145 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,251,025. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,814 cases. Of the 15,814 confirmed cases, 1,303 are imported; 14,458 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 108 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 816 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 816 deaths, 808 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
