CECC confirms 90 more COVID-19 cases, including 3 domestic cases and 87 imported cases


On March 16, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 90 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 90 new cases, three are domestic and 87 are imported (47 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the new domestic cases, they are one man and two women ranging in age from 10 to 79 years.

Regarding the 87 new imported cases, they are 60 men and 27 women ranging in age from under five to 69 years. Of the cases, 30 arrived in Taiwan from Vietnam, 11 from Korea, five from Indonesia, four each from Hong Kong, Australia, and the US, two from Malaysia, and one each from Poland, Thailand, Denmark, Mauritius, Singapore, Germany and Cambodia; the areas the remaining 20 cases arrived from are being investigated. They arrived between February 8, and March 15, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,650,590 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,628,498. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 21,492 cases. Of the 21,492 confirmed cases, 5,945 are imported; 15,493 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
