CECC confirms 73 more COVID-19 cases, including 8 domestic cases and 65 imported cases


On February 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 73 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 73 new cases, eight are domestic and 65 are imported (31 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are six men and two women, aged between under five and 79 years.

Regarding the 65 new imported cases, 39 are male and 24 are female while the gender of the other two cases is being investigated. They are between under ten and 69 years old. Of the cases, eight arrived from the US, five from Canada, three from Malaysia, two each from Germany, the UK, the Philippines, Spain, Cambodia, and one each from Sweden, Poland, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Vietnam, Nepal, Austria, Hong Kong, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Argentina, and China; the areas the remaining 24 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between January 18 and February 18, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,130,479 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,110,154. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,937 cases. Of the 19,937 confirmed cases, 4,506 are imported; 15,377 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 852 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 852 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
