On January 18, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 66 new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 66 new cases, 17 are domestic and 49 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are ten men and seven women, aged between under five and 69 years old.

Regarding the 49 new imported cases, they are 33 men and 16 women, aged between under 10 and 69 years old. 42 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (21 cases), Vietnam (five cases), Canada (four cases), the UK (three cases), France (two cases), Ireland, Spain, Sweden, the Philippines, Poland, Mexico, and Panama; the countries where the remaining seven cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 3 and January 17, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,306,453 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,287,815. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 17,951 cases. Of the 17,951 confirmed cases, 3,171 are imported; 14,726 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 115 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases
