CECC confirms 3 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the Netherlands, the US, and the UAE


On February 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those three new cases (Cases #921-923) arrived in Taiwan from the Netherlands, the United States and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), respectively.

Case #921 is an over 60-year-old man from the Netherlands. The Dutch man traveled to Taiwan for work on January 2. He hasn't developed any symptoms since arrival. He visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on February 3, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 5.

Case #922 is a Taiwanese man in his 20s. The Taiwanese man returned to Taiwan from the United States on January 13. He hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. After completing the self-health management period, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on February 3. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 5.

Case #923 is an over 40-year-old man from Afghanistan. He resided in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) for an extended period of time. The man traveled to Taiwan on January 7. After completing the quarantine period, he began to experience coughing on January 24. His symptom improved after he took over-the-counter medicines. As he planned to traveled back home, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on February 4. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 5.
