CECC confirms 18 more imported COVID-19 cases


On December 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 18 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 18 new imported cases, they are 15 men and three women, aged between 10 to 69 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (six cases), Vietnam (six cases), Cambodia, France, Pakistan, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands. They arrived between December 10 and December 23.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,860,998 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,841,748. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,891 cases. Of the 16,891 confirmed cases, 2,238 are imported; 14,599 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
