CECC confirms 19 more imported COVID-19 cases

On December 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 19 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 19 new imported cases, they are nine men and 10 women, aged between 10 to 89 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (eight cases), Switzerland, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Canada (two cases), Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, China, and Argentina (two cases). They arrived between December 14 and December 26.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,901,375 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,882,616. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,950 cases. Of the 16,950 confirmed cases, 2,296 are imported; 14,600 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
