CECC confirms 56 more COVID-19 cases, including 9 domestic cases and 47 imported cases


On February 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 56 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 56 new cases, nine are domestic and 47 are imported (35 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are three men and six women, aged between under five and 69 years old.

Regarding the 47 new imported cases, they are 27 men and 20 women, aged between under five and 79 years. Of the cases, six arrived in Taiwan from the US, three from Vietnam, and one each from Germany, Singapore, Indonesia, Canada, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Mexico; the areas the remaining 30 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between February 12 and February 27, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,307,048 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,286,217. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 20,489 cases. Of the 20,489 confirmed cases, 5,000 are imported; 15,435 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
