CECC confirms 5,221 more COVID-19 cases, including 5,108 domestic cases and 113 imported cases

On April 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 5,221 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 5,221 new cases, 5,108 are domestic and 113 are imported (106 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 5,108 new domestic cases, 2,488 are male and 2,588 are female while the gender of the other 32 is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 28 and April 24, while 2,982 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 1,861 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,050 in Taipei City, 696 in Taoyuan City, 339 in Keelung City, 317 in Yilan County, 201 in Taichung City, 148 in Hualien County, 126 in Kaohsiung City, 65 in Hsinchu County, 63 in Tainan City, 53 in Changhua County, 43 in Hsinchu City, 33 in Pingtung County, 29 in Miaoli County, 25 in Taitung County, 18 in Nantou County, 17 in Yunlin County, 11 in Chiayi County, 9 in Chiayi City, 2 in Lienchiang County, and one each in Kinmen County and Penghu County.

Regarding the 113 new imported cases, they are 70 men and 43 women ranging in age from under five to 69 years. Of the cases, one each arrived from Vietnam, the US and Germany, while the areas the remaining 110 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between April 17 and April 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 8,109,514 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 8,047,085. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 61,686 cases. Of the 61,686 confirmed cases, 10,462 are imported; 51,170 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 217 cases (three newly added; three domestic cases were removed due to duplicate records or negative results after epidemiological investigations) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 856 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 856 deaths, 842 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
