CECC confirms 62,110 more COVID-19 cases, including 62,080 domestic cases and 30 imported cases


On June 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 62,110 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 62,110 new cases, 62,080 are domestic and 30 are imported. The CECC announced 124 deaths today.

Regarding the 62,080 new domestic cases, 29,070 are male and 32,991 are female, while the gender of the other 19 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 9,232 were reported in Kaohsiung City, 9,026 in New Taipei City, 8,699 in Taichung City, 5,793 in Taoyuan City, 5,447 in Tainan City, 4,452 in Taipei City, 4,217 in Changhua County, 2,557 in Pingtung County, 1,516 in Hsinchu County, 1,504 in Miaoli County, 1,496 in Yunlin County, 1,257 in Hsinchu City, 1,249 in Yilan County, 1,188 in Nantou County, 1,058 in Chiayi County, 969 in Hualien County, 750 in Taitung County, 729 in Keelung City, 552 in Chiayi City, 213 in Penghu County, 163 in Kinmen County, and 13 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 124 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 67 men and 57 women ranging in age from under 10 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 30 new imported cases, they were 16 men and 14 women ranging in age from under 10 to 89 years. The areas these cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between June 3 and 4, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 11,626,097 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,218,989. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 2,404,871 cases. Of the 2,404,871 confirmed cases, 13,161 are imported; 2,391,656 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 2,939 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 2,939 deaths, 2,924 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
