CECC strengthens self-health management measures for migrant workers; industrial migrant workers under home quarantine shall undergo COVID-19 testing

On December 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that migrant workers should continue to observe a 7-day self-health management after they complete a 14-day period of group quarantine/home quarantine. Employers and employment agencies that hire migrant workers must abide by the measures listed below starting from the date of official announcement.
1. When making the entry quarantine registration and declaration for the migrant worker, the employer or the employment agency should also provide the place where the migrant worker will observe the self-heath management requirements (such as the place where the employer works or the placement location arranged by the employment agency) on the Entry and Departure of the Foreign Labor Airport Care Service website (https://fwas.wda.gov.tw/login.php) to facilitate the management of whereabouts of the migrant worker and on-site care and support services provided by the local government.
2. During the self-health management period, each migrant worker shall be assigned to and stay at an independent room. If it is difficult to abide by the said requirement, migrant workers placed under quarantine shall maintain a distance of 1.5 meters and wear a mask; environmental sanitation and disinfection shall also be carried out.

The CECC pointed out that industrial migrant workers from Vietnam and Thailand should undergo home quarantine for 14 days. Moreover, starting on December 10, migrant workers subjected to home quarantine should visit a designated hospital to undergo a COVID-19 test on the day after the end of the home quarantine period. Testing fees are borne by the CECC. As for the transportation, the employer or the employment agency shall be responsible for transportation arrangements for migrant workers. For any questions related to the above-mentioned measures, please call the 1955 Hotline of the Ministry of Labor for labor counseling and complaints.
