On December 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 16 new imported cases, they are 11 men and five women, aged between 10 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US, Vietnam (seven cases), Spain, the UK (two cases), the Philippines (two cases), and Indonesia (three cases). They arrived between November 25 and December 7.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,600,226 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,582,236. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,704 cases. Of the 16,704 confirmed cases, 2,060 are imported; 14,590 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 848 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 848 deaths, 836 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
